GLENN LAQUE MEMORIAL EVENT
June 13, 2009

Glenn touched many lives before his passing on July 15, 2008 at age 65; so, on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, June 13, 2009, he was remembered by over 100 family members, neighbors, friends, handball players, business associates, and others who observed his passing. The memorial event took place at the Veteran’s Park Shelter in Green Township. The event was hosted by Barbara and George Lehocky and speakers included Glenn’s wife, Carol, daughter and son-in-law, Claire and Colin Marshall as well as others from the audience.  Pictures of Glenn and his family were displayed along with his handball gear.  The first annual “Glenn Laque Good Guy Award” recipient, Ron Rosselot, was announced.  Ironically, Ron was not able to attend the event because he was doing a good guy deed; transporting former player and stoke victim, Bob Hiance, to and from the tournament being held in the park.  The highlight of the event was the announcement of a fund raising campaign to build a fourth 3-Wall Court next to the current courts named after deceased handball player, Bob Caples.  Glenn supported the building of the Caples Courts both verbally and financially and helped to sponsor the Annual Bob Caples Tournament each year after the courts were built.  The new court will be appropriately called the “Glenn Laque Challenge Court” and is planned to be built in this year.  It will honor Glenn and rejoin him with Bob Caples, his close friend.  Fund raising has begun to raise the $50,000 needed for its construction.  Besides many individuals, the Greater Cincinnati Handball Association has donated $7,000 to the campaign.  Contributors to the Glenn Laque Challenge court can send their check made out to the “Glenn Laque Fund” to:

Progress of the campaign will be reported on the GCHA website.  Questions can be referred to George or Barbara Lehocky at 513-231-0847.
